Jesse D. Pikus, CMA
Jesse is a seasoned financial executive with almost 20 years of experience in financial and accounting management. His industry experience includes insurance, software development, real estate, mental health practices, and HVAC and electrical services. Since his time in college, Jesse has worked almost exclusively with family-owned businesses, ranging from 3 to over 150 employees.
Jesse began his professional career working at a psychologists’ practice, where he served as office manager. From this experience, Jesse gained the knowledge of the insurance industry needed to transition to an insurance general agency, where he served as Vice President of Finance. During his 18 years with the agency, Jesse played a variety of important roles that were instrumental in helping the company grow revenues over 650% and its employee count from 35 to over 160.
In addition this role, Jesse was also involved with the finances and business operations of several other family companies related to the agency. Most notably, he served for 4 years as the Vice President of Software Development for one of the sister companies focused on creating insurance technology solutions for small employers. During that time, he developed several web-based software solutions that revolutionized the business practices of the insurance agency and have been utilized by over 50,000 employees across thousands of companies.
Jesse earned his Masters of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business, and a BS from Columbia International University with majors in Psychology and Biblical Studies and a minor in Intercultural Studies. Jesse holds an active Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) certificate through the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
In addition to his business experience, Jesse also taught for eight semesters as an adjunct professor at Columbia International University in its business school, as well as served for several years on the Executive Committee at Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia, SC, as Vice Chair and Audit Chair.
